Faculty Exchange: The ASU Confucius Institute promotes both academic and cultural exchange through visiting scholar programs with Sichuan University and other universities in China.

Lectures and Symposia: The Confucius Institute regularly invites scholars and professional experts to present public lectures and presentations on China-related research and business topics.

Two students represented Arizona State University at the 2017 Chinese Bridge Competition, which selects top students in the Southwest U.S. to participate in the Chinese Bridge - Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students in China during Summer 2017. This competition promotes interactions among regional Confucius Institutes and provides an opportunity for college students to mingle and demonstrate their Chinese language skills and special talents.

In the “Rhapsody on Literature” 文賦, Lu Ji 陸機 (261– 303) always expresses his worry that his work may unwittingly be a pale copy of one of the many works he has read or will one day read. Wendy Swartz, Rutgers University, presented a lecture exploring how Lu Ji traces the process of the creative act and the questions his work of meta-literature raises about reading and writing, originality and tradition, and conception and representation. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 - 4:30pm - 6:00pm

Professor Hsieh Shu-wei presented a talk titled "Modernization, Religionization, and Modern Daoism." He is a Professor of Daoist Studies and the Director of the Center for the Study of Chinese Religion at Cheng-chih University in Taipei, Taiwan.

Monday, August 22, 2016 - 6:00pm - 7:30pm

The information night on Chinese Immersion Program with Dr. Shuhan Wang, Project Director of the Chinese Early Language and Immersion Network (CELIN), which was established to strengthen and expand Chinese language education in early childhood and immersion programs and advocate language learning across the United States and beyond, addressed some frequently asked questions parents of Chinese Immersion students are interested in. Dr. Wang also shared ways for parents to support immersion students and create success.

Dr. Wang has held a variety of prominent positions in language education, including as former Deputy Director of the National Foreign Language Center and Co-Principal Investigator of the STARTALK Project.   She also served as the Executive Director for Chinese Language initiatives at the Asia Society.

March 5, May 7, September 3, and November 5, 2016 (9:30-11:30am)

ASU CI presented the Elementary and Secondary winning model teaching videos of the “Innovation in Teaching” Competition. People joined to not only discuss the video content, lesson plans, and teaching PowerPoints of winning videos, but also share resources for planning instruction and professional development. Chinese teachers across the valley interacted and shared ideas with each other.
