Faculty Exchange: The ASU Confucius Institute promotes both academic and cultural exchange through visiting scholar programs with Sichuan University and other universities in China.

Lectures and Symposia: The Confucius Institute regularly invites scholars and professional experts to present public lectures and presentations on China-related research and business topics.

ASU CI offers non-credit Chinese language classes.  Beginning Chinese I is designed for individuals with little or no exposure to Chinese. Beginning Chinese II is for people who completed a Beginning Chinese class.  These classes are 8-week courses with one class session per week.  For more information, visit http://confuciusinstitute.asu.edu/portal/learnchinese.

The ASU Confucius Institute is co-sponsoring the Chinese Education Conference on March 2-3 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This conference is dedicated to Chinese language teachers with experts and in-service teachers presenting in-depth workshops, best practices and hands-on teaching methods; and immersion techniques benefit all classrooms. Utah State Office of Education invites you to preconference school visits on March 1.

Sunday, January 13, 2013 - 9:30am

Thirteen presenters who attended the ACTFL Conference in Philadelphia will share the latest research on curricular design, student motivation & classroom management, teaching strategies and assessment, and integrating technology and culture into language classes at this workshop.

Attendees at this workshop will receive a ASU CI certificate of five professional teacher training hours at the end of the workshop. This event is FREE and open to the public. Breakfast and lunch will be served. RSVP to Wenjing Xie at wenjing.xie@asu.edu before January 8.

Beginning Chinese I/ Saturdays:
9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
January 12 to March 2, 2013

Beginning Chinese II/Tuesdays:
4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
January 15 to March 5, 2013

ASU CI will offer Beginning Chinese I and Chinese II in January 2013. These courses are designed for individuals to gain a basic knowledge of Mandarin. It is an 8-week course with one class session per week. These classes cover topics related to business, travel and general communication.
