Confucius Classroom

The Confucius Institute at Arizona State University collaborates with Arizona K-12 schools to offer Chinese language and culture programs that match each schools’ unique strengths. To date, we have established fourteen affiliated Confucius Classroom partnerships with Bogle Junior High School, Boulder Creek High School, Cactus Shadows High School, Cooley Middle School, Coronado Elementary School, Diamond Canyon School, Gavilan Peak School, Hamilton High School, Horseshoe Trails Elementary School, Lone Mountain Elementary School, Rhodes Junior High School, Sonoran Trails Middle School, Tarwater Elementary School and Williams Field High School. 

The Confucius Classrooms at Coronada Elementary, Gavilan Peak, Horseshoe Trails and Tarwater Elementary offer innovative Mandarin Immersion programs. The Confucius Classrooms at Boulder Creek High, Cactus Shadows High, Hamilton High and William Fields High offer four year Chinese programs from Chinese 1 to AP Chinese. The Confucius Classroom at Hamilton High School also offers Chinese 5, which is Chinese Language and Literature class. 

Confucius Classrooms are supported by the ASU Confucius Institute and Hanban. Ongoing consultation and quarterly interactive workshops focus on curriculum development, and student assessments are offered to further enhance Chinese language instruction and prepare students to be linguistically and culturally competent global citizens in the 21st century. The Confucius Institute also offers valuable resources and activities to inspire students’ understanding and appreciation of Chinese language and culture.
