Cultural Events

Talks and Conferences: The ASU Confucius Institute invites distinguished scholars and professionals to offer lectures and presentations on topics such as Chinese history, literature, and culture. 

Chinese Cultural Activities: As part of our cultural mission, the ASU Confucius Institute regularly presents artistic musical performances and other significant cultural events that showcase the visual and performing arts of China.  

Chinese Culture Contest and Classes: As part of the goal to encourage and to develop young Chinese language learners’ knowledge of China’s rich culture and history, the Institute hosts Chinese speech and writing competitions, photo and drawing contests and classes in calligraphy, Chinese knotting, traditional Chinese painting and crafts. 

School Presentations: The ASU Confucius Institute sends ASU students to K-12 schools as China Ambassadors to present information related to Chinese culture, geography and history.  Students also proffer presentations related to major Chinese holidays such as the ritual and traditions of the Chinese New Year and Moon Festival.

ASU CI will co-sponsored the Phoenix Chinese Week 2015. People celebrated the Year of RAM through experiencing the sights, sounds and tastes of the 25th annual Phoenix Chinese Week Culture and Cuisine Festival. There was traditional Chinese folk dance, marital arts demonstrations, traditional music performance, children’s arts & crafts pavilion, photo & art exhibit, and food festival.

Visit the ASU Confucius Institute Children’s Pavilion and participate in free cultural and fun hands-on activities including paper folding, paper cutting, Chinese fans and masks, and Chinese calligraphy.

Ode to Peace performance is a music and dance extravaganza from east to west. This event was presented by the American Chinese Arts & Culture Exchange Association, the Arizona Chinese Chorus, Arizona Chinese Insturmental Music Ensemble, and the Cantonese Opera Circle. This event brought together artistic excellence and inspirations in music from east to west.

Saturday, September 27, 2014 - 9:00am - 2:00pm

Students who joined the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp will share their China experiences through photos, essays, and power points. There will be an exhibit of China photos and essays from the Photo and Writing Contests. Photo and writing competition awards will be announced at this event.
