Cultural Events

Talks and Conferences: The ASU Confucius Institute invites distinguished scholars and professionals to offer lectures and presentations on topics such as Chinese history, literature, and culture. 

Chinese Cultural Activities: As part of our cultural mission, the ASU Confucius Institute regularly presents artistic musical performances and other significant cultural events that showcase the visual and performing arts of China.  

Chinese Culture Contest and Classes: As part of the goal to encourage and to develop young Chinese language learners’ knowledge of China’s rich culture and history, the Institute hosts Chinese speech and writing competitions, photo and drawing contests and classes in calligraphy, Chinese knotting, traditional Chinese painting and crafts. 

School Presentations: The ASU Confucius Institute sends ASU students to K-12 schools as China Ambassadors to present information related to Chinese culture, geography and history.  Students also proffer presentations related to major Chinese holidays such as the ritual and traditions of the Chinese New Year and Moon Festival.

Come experience a Chinese culture performance in Chandler Center for the Arts on Tuesday, September 26. The performance integrates an array of colorful Chinese art forms including artistic Chinese dances, traditional folk songs, soulful vocal and choirs. This show is FREE and open to the public. Don’t miss this opportunity to join a spectacular show that the entire family will enjoy!

Past Events

Here at the ASU Confucius Institute, we truly believe that images tell a story –your story and interpretation of China or the Chinese culture.  We would like to invite middle school to college students to share your personal visual depiction of China as it appears in your eyes.

Winning and outstanding photos will be exhibited at the National Day & Moon Festival Reception hosted by the ASU Confucius Institute and United Chinese Association of Arizona (UCAA) held in the Memorial Union Arizona Ballroom at the ASU Tempe Campus on Sunday, September 22, 2013

The ASU Confucius Institute will co-host the Moon Festival Dance Celebration with the Eastern Art Academy.  Highlights of “Moon Festival Dance Celebration” include traditional Chinese dance and traditional instrumentals of Chinese music. This is a lively and unique show that the entire family will enjoy.

The ASU Confucius Institute will present the Chinese Day at Mesa Academy Advanced Studies.  There will be dragon dance performance, Chinese calligraphy and brush painting demonstrations,  China-tribute questions, and prizes.
