Chinese Language Programs

Professional Development Workshop Series:   The ASU Confucius Institute plays a vital role in the learning and teaching of Chinese language and culture in Arizona.  We offer professional development workshops to prepare teachers of Chinese on topics such as language teaching methodology & strategies, curriculum development, AP Chinese, and student assessment.

Chinese Language Proficiency Tests:  The ASU Confucius Institute is the designated official testing site offering the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) and the Youth Chinese Test (YCT).  Both tests assess Chinese language proficiency for learners of Mandarin.  HSK is a proficiency test for adult Chinese language learners and is often compared to the English TOEFL exam, while the YCT is a Chinese proficiency test for elementary and middle-school students.

Learn Chinese: The Confucius Institute at Arizona State University offers Beginning Chinese and Individual Tutoring in Chinese.  These courses are designed for individuals to gain a basic knowledge of Mandarin.
