Independent Chinese Documentary Film: Wu Wenguang and the Memory Project Filmmakers

The ASU Confucius Institute co-sponsored the events related to Wu Wenguang and the Memory Project filmmakers’ visit from November 14 to 15, 2016. Founded in 2010, the Memory Project is a documentary film series curated by the independent Chinese filmmaker Wu Wenguang. As of 2016, the project features the work of more than two hundred filmmakers who return to their ancestral villages to research the Great Famine period by collecting oral interviews and documentary footage from relatives and other villagers in 22 provinces and 190 villages.

Monday, November 14th, 5-8:30pm: Film Screening of Zhang Mengqi's Self Portrait: Building the Bridge at 47 KM and the "Reading Hunger" lecture and performance (Memorial Union Pima Room)

Tuesday, November 15th, 4-6pm: Meet and Greet with the filmmakers (West Hall 135 and Secret Garden)
