ASU STARTALK Chinese Language Summer Program

STARTALK is a nationally-funded initiative that seeks to expand and improve the teaching and learning of strategically important languages such as Chinese. The ASU Confucius Institute collaborated with the ASU School of International Letters and Cultures to hold a teacher training program in 2008 as well as a two-week residential camp on Chinese language and culture for high school students from 2009-2016.

2016 ASU Startalk Chinese Language Camp

The 15-day residential program provides students an opportunity to explore and expand their knowledge in Chinese language and culture through a highly structured curriculum. During the program, students will receive Chinese language instruction and participate in fun, hands-on cultural activities. The program boasts a living-learning setting where participants will gain first-hand college life experience.  

The camp is for current 8-12th graders in Arizona, whose proficiency level of Chinese language ranges from zero to intermediate.
